“Happily ever after” wasn’t supposed to come with a do-over option. But when my husband of twenty years packs up and heads for greener pastures, that’s exactly what my life becomes.
Do-over.
Eager for a fresh start, I make a somewhat unorthodox decision and take a job as the caretaker of a centuries-old house. A mansion, actually, in a cute little town off the beaten track. The other caretakers? A butler who insists on wearing a cape and an Irishwoman who thinks it is perfectly reasonable to throw rocks at tourists.
Still, it could be worse. The grumpy bartender at the town pub is very nice to look at, and the job is temporary. I can handle a little weird for a few months.
It turns out, however, that it isn’t just a house. And I can’t just leave. Not after I find out what is hidden there.
In the end, it is the strange crew and grumpy alpha that are all that stand between me…and a life I never could’ve imagined.
Do-over, indeed.
